Where I come from

I am Elisa, in art Sun7, born in Tivoli in 1994, a small town near Rome. Drawing has always been my way of exploring inner worlds and complex emotions, which led me to pursue a degree in Fine Arts. During my studies I explored every possible medium — from digital to traditional, from image to sound.

After my bachelor’s I realised I was ill-suited to the conventional art system, which felt far from the authenticity I was searching for. I taught myself various software and worked as a graphic designer until 2019. It was valuable experience, but I still craved more freedom.

So I left everything behind and bought a one-way ticket to Tangier, Morocco. There I found an extraordinary community, and bought my first tattoo machine. Tattooing captured me immediately: a way to keep growing as an artist while supporting myself.

Self-taught

I am a self-taught tattoo artist, which has been both a blessing and a challenge. Learning alone, fast and without guidance demands deep passion and necessity, as well as a willingness to play a game nobody explained the rules of. I truly missed having a mentor, but I was soon hired in several shops, where I could compare methods and draw inspiration from other artists.

Tattooing is teaching me so much about life, art, people, emotions and connection. It is a world that humbles you, pushes your boundaries, and teaches patience in building yourself. I don’t consider tattooing my final form — yet I recognise it as one of the greatest challenges and gifts of my life.

Artistic background

From oil painting to digital media.

Years of life drawing, academic study, colour theory and oil painting shaped my approach to tattooing. It’s what makes my black-and-white work realistic and professional, and my colour tattoos balanced and vivid.
